UNT Special Collections Brings The Largest LGBTQ Archive in the Southwest to Dallas

The next participant in the DFW Archives Bazaar is UNT Special Collections!

UNT Special Collections department, part of the UNT Libraries, collects and preserves rare and unique materials including rare books, oral histories, maps, manuscripts, and artifacts. UNT Special Collections is located in the Willis Library, where students, faculty, and the public are welcome to access collections and view special exhibits in the Reading Room.

Major areas of collecting for UNT Special Collections are University of North Texas history, Texas history, visual materials such as film and photography, oral histories, and LGBTQ history. Their LGBTQ Archive is one of the largest in the Southwest. UNT Special Collections is interested in making their materials as easily accessible to the public as possible, and is working to digitize important collections like the NBC DFW / KXAS Television News Archive, consisting of 70 years of film, video, scripts, and other related materials.

Joins us for the DFW Archives Bazaar and talk to UNT Special Collections about their work. We will be at Dallas Heritage Village at Old City Park on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 1-5pm/
